Re: Vietnam: Biker Stopped At Traffic Light Ran Over By Truck
Gee, I don't know, get off my fukkin bike and check if he's actually alive? Call an ambulance? Every minute counts. They would not have been able to see how bad it was from their angle as some of them didn't pull up until after. The guy could've still been alive. Jesus Christ, I hope you're not around if I get in an accident. |

Well, he wasn't alive was he? So what would you do once you ascertained this to be the case? Also, that smashed head was visible on most any angle. But you are right about not wanting me to be the (only) one around if you get into an accident. If I saw you were still alive, I'd make the phone call, but that's about all I would be good for. Better to stay clear of the situation than to make it worse. |

Re: Vietnam: Biker Stopped At Traffic Light Ran Over By Truck
What you saw looks cold, but it’s not as simple as “people are heartless.” In countries like China, people have been sued or jailed for helping. There are actual cases where someone tried to assist an injured person and ended up getting blamed for the accident. So now, a lot of folks don’t get involved—not because they don’t care, but because they’re afraid they’ll get screwed by the system. It’s not about lack of compassion, it’s about self-preservation in a broken legal culture. Yeah, it’s horrible to see. But just because people didn’t help doesn’t mean they don’t care. A lot of them are just scared—helping someone could get them in serious trouble. |
