Unless you are crossing the road, there is absolutely NO reason for someone to be standing in the middle of a busy thoroughfare.

This whole "poor innocent pedestrians" shit needs to stop. If you're gonna cross, you look both ways for safety and THEN cross. At no point is it safe to walk out into the middle of the road, stand there like a stupid statue, and then focus your attention on something else.

This was the photographer's fault. He had no fucking business being in the middle of the road.
