Police identify 30-year-old man shot and killed in SE Portland

A 30-year-old man died after being shot in the Lents neighborhood on Friday night.

“J.P.” was shot in the parking lot of a convenience store at Southeast 92nd Avenue and Southeast Holgate Boulevard around 9:45 p.m. Friday, police confirmed Monday. Police said “J.P.” was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.

A small memorial with candles and flowers was set up in honor of “J.P.” in the 7-Eleven parking lot where the shooting occurred.

Police did not release any information about whether they have identified any suspects, but said Polanco’s death was ruled a homicide. It is the 60th homicide in Portland since the beginning of 2021. Another man was shot and killed in an Old Town bar early Sunday morning, marking the 61st homicide in Portland this year.

Police said they have heard of a video that shows the Lents neighborhood shooting circulating on social media, and said they want to talk to the person who recorded the video.

The shaky video shows two people jumping and punching someone in a hooded sweatshirt*on a sidewalk outside of a business.*At one point, others to the side shout for the attack to stop. Then the video turns to another person standing*in a parking lot in front who aims a gun and shoots into the skirmish, appearing to strike a person in the*head.


Anyone with information about the shooting or the video is asked to contact the Portland Police Bureau.

My apologies all. I assumed it was the Vancouver shooting, It was in fact in Portland. I was mistaken because the person who filmed it lives in Vancouver.
