Re: USA - Teens Street Race Gets Deadly
I think that it should be a high school graduation requirement. Having said that, outcomes are poor if you've been doing CPR on a person with no pulses or respirations for 4-5 minutes or more by the time EMS arrives.

Re: USA - Teens Street Race Gets Deadly
the odds of survival with no CPR will almost universally be zero though. so CPR is always better than no CPR. i say *almost* zero because i've been in medicine long enough to know that crazy shit happens all the time and people beat the unbeatable odds. and yes, the idiots yelling "no dont touch him, dont touch him!" are indeed idiots. no pulse? get some fucking CPR going till EMS arrives!! |

Re: USA - Teens Street Race Gets Deadly
I know a lot of people would rather die than being paralysed or have other life changing injuries - but in the end the number one priority should be to save a life, that's what CPR can do. Doing nothing does... -> nothing... But there we are back with the topic of people being afraid to do damage while doing right... better do nothing than being sued afterwards. People should be sued for doing nothing imho... In Germany not administering first aid in a case like that can be punishable up to 1 years prison or a fine. Unfortunatly this is not very often persued as it's hard to proof (or people actually help pretty quick) - that charge can also be a base for a civil lawsuit afterwards though. That being said, I'm pretty sure there are laws like that also in the US (Duty To Rescue laws). Additionally to that, there are laws that protect the helper from being liable for the outcome or any wrongdoing while doing first aid (Good Samaritan Laws). |

Yup, that shit's crazy. Even when it's a race specific crime like a race based hate crime. They're white when they commit a hate crime but are Latino or Hispanic when they are the victims of a hate crime. Go check it out, it's fucking goofy man.

Young kids with barely any life experience and I'm assuming spoiled by mom and dad. That's a brand new 2020 or newer Ram Rebel, it's NOT a cheap truck by any means.

Re: USA - Teens Street Race Gets Deadly
What kind of fucked up country teaches citizens to do CPR on a person who's been thrown from a high speed crash? He most likely has many broken ribs and internal injuries and bleeding. And you think you're going to save his life by pushing on his chest? The only thing saving him would be to intubate and get out the paddles. Assuming his head injuries aren't so severe. Chest compressions would only cause punctured lungs and other organs causing massive internal bleeding. Which he's probably already suffering. |
