It was never a reasonable ask: you get shot at comparable rates when you submit to rule of law at comparable rates (anything else is demanding, under threat of political violence, extra accommodation for their lawbreaking, which is constitutionally impermissible under the equal protection clause.)

Or we could just hold all cops to the same standard, which is that all suspects, regardless of race, are presumed innocent until proven guilty, and that a bullet should NOT be the first, the second, the third, or even the fourth recourse to subdue said suspect UNLESS there is an imminent threat to law enforcement or other parties in the vicinity.

I'm lumping these two responses together since my answer addresses them both

Since police have been required to wear bodycams in response to these protests, and the number of police killings of unarmed suspects (of ALL races) have decreased, have those protests continued?

Protest is a recourse the PEOPLE have when the government just sits on its butt and doesn't address a pressing issue. Yes sometimes those protests have to get (((LOUD))) in order to get the proper attention. This is not something new, it is how the masses have triggered change in their societies for CENTURIES.

Not every man who is convicted of a crime is a hardened criminal. The main purpose of jail and prison is CORRECTION. That's why we refer to them as correctional facilities or the Department of Corrections.. That's why taxpayers spend millions of dollars on programs to help rehabilitate these people.

We do not have a crystal ball or mind reading technology to tell when a person is rehabilitated, we can only go based on their past behavior and the efforts they take within the justice system to demonstrate that they have seen the error of their ways.
