This is why I have a lot of respect for this website. Hosting content like this is such a valuable resource for various parties that need to review what happened.

Amazing how everyone in a position to run his ass down just avoids him and speeds away. Cowards.

Re: USA - Allen, Texas Active Shooter
I’ve a question for Americans, can you imagine a life without guns? I live in Britain which massively overhauled gun access when dunblane happened. I was too young to remember before the gun reform but I can’t imagine ever worrying I’d be shot going to school or to the shopping centre. I don’t know what gun reform looks like for America, I don’t live there but there has to be something to limit access to guns by those who aren’t mentally stable. |

Re: USA - Allen, Texas Active Shooter
I've never owned a gun, but with what's been happening all around me I've been thinking it's about time to get one. To answer your question: I used to never really care about guns other than reforming the law to remove easy access to them, but lately everytime I go out I think about how safer I'd feel with one. |

Re: USA - Allen, Texas Active Shooter
This is the catch though, if no one had guns then people wouldn’t need to carry one to feel safe. For us here we know not many have access to guns and that in a sense allows us to not need to feel we have to carry something to protect ourselves. Knife crime is still a problem but it’s easier to outrun a nutter with a knife than one with a gun. I’d say over 90% of brits only ever see a gun when the police are armed at large events. Which can feel jarring when you spend day to day life never seeing them. I know in the uk you have to apply for a shot gun licence, if you are on depression medication or have a history of issues they will decline it. If you pass the checks you have to keep the gun in the gun case locked, the gun case has to be a certain size so it can’t be stolen. Mostly guns here are owned by those who hunt (often the upper class who have their own estates they can shoot on) or are farmers. |

Re: USA - Allen, Texas Active Shooter
I've carried since I legally could, so about 14 years now. I used to be religious about it. Have all the best holsters, fine duty pieces, etc. Lately I've gotten lazy. I rarely left the house strapped up anymore. Probably a firearm in each vehicle though. Well I was quickly reminded that it's better to have it and not need it then the opposite. I was in a hardware store and my eyes followed a suspicious character. He somehow worked his way to the absolute back of the store where I was. Absolutely alone. He started making chatter and side eyeing as he thumbed products he definitely didn't have any business with. In that very moment I felt the panic of this mfer is up to something, I never took my eyes off him and backed away. I got the fuck out and pictured his car and plates. He sure as shit came out empty handed. Dude was sketch AF. That was my wake up call to start strapping up again. Only way to stop a BG with a gun is a good guy with one.. And it's far too late to eliminate weapons in this country so we're just going to have to deal with it. If you notice, these shootings don't happen in areas where Conceal carry is heavy. These are often city type areas that are soft targets. Like the Indiana mall shootings where the suspect was stopped short by a civilian carrying. You never hear about those. |

Re: USA - Allen, Texas Active Shooter
I'm ex-military (US) and carried a side arm on a regular basis while serving. Carrying a gun does NOT make me feel safer. If anything, it makes me feel like a target. If an active shooter appears and I draw my gun, there's a huge chance I'm going to be shot by the shooter or the police when they arrive on scene. It's happened many times before. When the police get there, they don't know who is supposedly the "good" guy. They just see another asshole with a gun standing in the middle of a bunch of corpses and blood. Carrying a gun everyday is very stressful and the idea that the solution to this problem lies in expecting average citizens to walk around strapped all the time is laughable. It's a huge burden and most people aren't going to do it. The ones that do take on a massive amount of risk. That's the unvarnished reality. I've seen heavily trained, responsible gun owners make the dumbest mistakes. Here's a couple random examples: A gun shop OWNER shooting his own balls off in the store while appendix carrying: https://concealednation.org/2018/06/...e-or-accident/ A retired Marine negligently discharging in a gun shop: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/l9mq4DDj0-c Also, there's a chance the cops could freak out on you simply for the audacity of having a CCW: |
