Re: UnitedHealthcare CEO Assassination

Thanks. That video explains a lot. It's wouldn't attract much very much attention in a public venue.

I would think that anyone who is familiar it would know exactly which weapon he is using and that he is fairly proficient. Still, none of the law enforcement analysts that I've seen in the media and on various podcasts realized this.

Seems like a good tactical choice, but potentially damning evidence that may allow law enforcement to identify him.

Re: UnitedHealthcare CEO Assassination

The police have revealed the pistol used was a $2000 B&T Station Six 9mm bolt action pistol which is a modern update of the Welrod silenced pistol.
I wonder if it's a stolen gun, because if he legally bought it, that would mean his fingerprints are in the FBI's database for purchasing a suppressor.

Re: UnitedHealthcare CEO Assassination

This guy really put a lot of thought into this--to the point where they have to be wondering if he's made an obvious mistake or is trying to throw them off the trail.

Some sources say he's a suspect, while others say he's a person of interest. I'll admit, he's thrown me off with the different jacket and backpack colors.

Re: UnitedHealthcare CEO Assassination

He was definately targeted, thats obvious. It didn't seem very professional though. Im no expert, but if your using a silencer, why pick an area where 20 people saw you.
Yeah. He/She was obviously targeted. Why does “professional” really matter? Not only did he/she succeed the goal, he/she got away fairly damn clean. So he/she didn’t have a booster on it, big deal. He/She handled it properly, quickly, and got away damn near clean.

I wouldn’t doubt it being a She.

Re: UnitedHealthcare CEO Assassination

If it WAS a Glock 19 (barrels aren't test fired - so no ballistics) and it DID jam like that, he must not have shot it much, because with a firm grip it's pretty difficult to get a Glock to jam.
That’s not why Glocks are difficult in identifying with ballistics. Glocks use cold hammer forged barrels and during this process the barrel blank is shaped to a rifling pattern, whereas in other barrels the barrel blank has the rifling cut using a machine. With Glock barrels using the same rifling pattern over and over and the barrel blanks being hammered down onto the rifling pattern this reduces the number of flaws that can be ballistically identified.

On barrels with traditionally cut rifling you have imperfections in the barrel metal, tooling marks that are more prevalent in the high wear of a cutting and chamfer tool.

Another issue with identifying Glocks in ballistics is the polygonal rifling used by Glock. While they can say through ballistics “yes this bullet was fired by a Glock”, just not a certain Glock. But this doesn’t always ring true because they can match tooling marks to fired shell casings from the loading/firing/ejection process.

Re: UnitedHealthcare CEO Assassination

The words “deny,” “defend” and “depose” were found emblazoned on the ammunition, echoing a phrase used by insurance industry critics, two law enforcement officials said Thursday.

The words were written in permanent marker, according to one of the two officials, who were not authorized to publicly discuss details of the investigation and spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity.

The messages on the 9 mm ammunition found at the scene of the shooting mimic the phrase “delay, deny, defend,” which is commonly used by lawyers and insurance industry critics to describe tactics used to avoid paying claims.

It refers to insurers delaying payment, denying a claim and then defending their actions. Health insurers like UnitedHealthcare have become frequent targets of criticism from doctors and patients for denying claims or complicating access to care.

Thank you for this, gives some insight on where he went exactly. I wonder if he changed his outfit when going into the trees.
