A gunman shot and killed UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Manhattan, NewYork.

The gunman used a Glock 19 (?) pistol fitted with a silencer. It seems that the pistol jammed repeatedly during the assassination.

It's being characterized as a targeted killing (the CEO had been receiving threats). I'd like to know what this fucker did to put a bullseye on his back. I also heard commentary stating that the killer had good firearms training based upon them instinctively using steps that are trained in the military/law enforcement to clear jams. I wonder if they were a hired pro or just some Joe Blow with a beef against this guy.

Likely the suppressor caused the gun to not eject the round properly, causing the jam. I train like this, and I have to agree, this guy was calmer and more methodical than anyone I have seen on this site. He has to have at least some military or police training, or a deep hatred that kept him focused.

With the fucked up state of the healthcare industry in the US, I wouldn't be surprised if someone had a grievance due to real or perceived wrongs from this company & decided to take his complaints straight to the top.

Wife of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson says her husband had been receiving ‘some threats’ prior to fatal shooting

The wife of slain health insurance CEO Brian Thompson said Wednesday that her husband had been getting threats before he was gunned down in Midtown Manhattan.

“There had been some threats,” Paulette Thompson told NBC News in her first comments since her husband was murdered early Wednesday.

“Basically, I don’t know, a lack of coverage?” she said, referring to her 50-year-old husband’s role as CEO of UnitedHealthcare’s insurance division.

“I don’t know details. I just know that he said there were some people that had been threatening him,” she told NBC News by phone.

“I can’t really give a thoughtful response right now. I just found this out and I’m trying to console my children,” she said, confirming that police had told her it is believed to have been a “targeted attack.”

Brian Thompson, 50, was shot in the chest early Wednesday by a masked man who was waiting for him outside the Hilton hotel as he headed to a conference.

He was rushed in critical condition to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

No arrests have been made. Crime Stoppers is offering a $10,000 reward for information.
