Re: Ukraine - 4 Workers Dead from Ammonia Poisoning
Not the sharpest knives in the drawer. One goes into the well and passes out. The others follow on and do the same thing, like the three blind mice. What, exactly, did they think would happen to them? Perhaps they were immune to the effects of the gas that knocked the first worker out? Darwin awards here.

Oh you are too kind, thank you so much. I've been slacking a bit, I've not been posting at my normal rate, I keep getting sidetracked.

Re: Ukraine - 4 Workers Dead from Ammonia Poisoning
It is really weird that the woman is unclothed but for her underwear and sneakers. Could very well have been she had been assaulted in some way by one or all 3 men. Maybe they chose to dispose her there and the blue shirt guy fell in accidentally. Then they threw a tether down to him to wrap it around himself so they can pull him out. That didn’t work because then the 2 fat guys died from the vapors. Weird cover story chosen. |

i thought about that but who wears a dress when you plan on draining a (clogged) well. Same goes for the others also wearing regular clothes instead of overalls etc.

Ah, when you said "The dead woman was acting head of the station.", I thought you meant that she was a foreman. Though still, I used to do labouring in a denim skirt, so it can be done, haha!

Re: Ukraine - 4 Workers Dead from Ammonia Poisoning
It's all too common. I don't think judgment should be passed too quickly. There are a whole host of rules that people entering confined spaces must conform to in the USA. For this exact reason. If you see a coworker go down, your first instinct would be to get them. I get it. I regularly have safety meetings with my employees about the dangers of confined spaces. We have a "sniffer" that is lowered into the space for 15 minutes before anyone goes in. While they're in the confined space, a powerful fan blows fresh air into the space and the sniffer stays suspended to test air quality. A few years ago, a telecom company had went into their space unprotected/untested. They knew that no utilities ran through their manhole. The manhole was downhill from another job that was happening. The excavators ended up hitting a utility line that crossed theirs. The gas from that line was heavier than oxygen and traveled down the telecom pipe into their MH. The exact same thing happened that is in the video. If I remember correctly 4 guys ended up dying. Enclosed spaces are no joke. Do the prep work and abide the rules of suffer the consequences. |
