Two young women, identified as Karoliny R.A. and Ana E.N., died in an accident on Friday night (17), in the Sepetiba neighborhood, in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro.

The victims were riding a motorcycle without helmets when they crashed into a bus that was making a left turn.

One of the victims, who was riding the motorcycle, died at the scene of the accident.

The other young woman, who was on the back of the bike, was rescued but died on admission to hospital.

The girl that was still alive afterwards was definitely paralyzed from the waist down.

To be fair, the bus did not have its turn signal on. But if I was on a motorcycle, I would never, ever, EVER overtake a bus or a big truck like that!!! They just don’t see you.
The blind spots on buses and large trucks are HUGE, and being on an extra small vehicle?? Again, they just don’t see you…

Oh, and for fuck’s sake, all she had to do was slow down and turn with the bus… She panicked and it cost them both their lives, and their parents lost their daughters.
Just sad, with more experience, the damage could have been avoided, or at least lessened.

The lack of care in the paramedics is what could have killed her. Which her leg that messed up that shattered femur was probably grinding up her femoral artery and she could have bread out internally before getting to the hospital.
