Two women, originally from Ecuador, were killed in a hit-and-run crash as they walked home from a World Cup watch party.

The women, identified as 58-year-old Mariana E.V.B. and 61-year-old Maria I.D.S.A., were crossing the intersection when they were struck by the car, sending them airborne. A witnessed alleged that the driver stepped on his accelerator and sped through the crosswalk as the traffic light was in the middle of changing.

The driver, identified as 26-year-old David J. Zapata-Vera, surrendered to authorities. He was charged with two counts of second-degree vehicular homicide, two counts of second-degree leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in death, and two counts of third-degree endangering an injured victim.

Yeah , he turned his self in public after waiting a day or two all the alcohol on drugs to wash out his body , he'll get five years or less than be out on back on the street , like the piece of trash is

one headlight was already broke it seems. Because Zapata-Vera fled the scene and did not surrender to police until 3 days later, authorities face a standard legal hurdle in retroactively proving chemical impairment at the exact time of the crash.
