Two 18-year-old women and close friends - nursing student Isabel P.R., and Isabelli H.d.L.C. - were killed when they were struck by a speeding car whilst crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing. They were returning home from a winery, celebrating one of them having gotten a job.

The car that struck them was driven by 26-year-old law student Brendo d.S.S., who, according to witnesses, seemed to be racing another car. Brendo pointed out that the traffic light was green for cars, and he didn't notice the two women until it was too late.

Brendo was not drunk. He was arrested, with the case being registered as homicide with eventual intent (when the risk is assumed).
