Re: Two Skydivers Dead After Collision with Each Other in the Air

To me, the key is the phrase "600 jumps". When I went skydiving, the chutes were all packed by professional riggers. But while we are out there waiting for our turn, a lot of military and ex-military guys were there jumping, and they just rolled up their chutes like they were laundry, jammed them back in their packs, and ran off to catch the next flight up. When I mentioned it to the guy teaching the class, he just laughed and said "those guys all have 1000 or so jumps. They aren't worried anymore."
But those are the guys who get killed.
Complacency kills.

My Pop told me that when he was in the 82nd, each parachute packer had to put their name on every chute they packed, and was expected to jump using one of their own chutes when requested to do so (within reason regarding time, flight availability, etc., of course). The idea was that each packer essentially guaranteed their work with their own life, so they had better have done it right each and every time.

And unlike these Russian jumpers, they weren't sloshed on vodka 24/7.

I thought packing your own gear was policy.

When I’ve gone with others, we jump at different times but it’s more like 20-30 seconds between jumpers I would say.
They only jump together if they are going to do ‘relative work’, fuck around in the sky making patterns or shapes together.

Re: Two Skydivers Dead After Collision with Each Other in the Air

I’m a skydiver so this one gets to me, but I never jump at the exact same time as someone else. I mean, I’m New Zealand I had a camera man jump with me to film it, but even then, he was a professional diver so although we jumped at different moments he easily caught up with me. It’s a cool video but unfortunately I’m not gravely injured in it so it’s not appropriate for this site...
You’re not a skydiver, you’re a poser. No skydiver would write what you wrote. You rode along on some guys chest on a tandem jump. If you really want to be a skydiver, then actually do it. If you want to be a coward poser, then keep doin what you’re doin!

Again, stop being a retarded poser. You are NOT a skydiver, and you have absolutely no idea what you’re taking about.

Nope. You really have no idea what you’re talking about. All the stuff you wrote is total bs and now more people in the world are stupid because of it. Congrats!
