with all due respect, most racing boats have 5 point harnesses in them. Its a requirement in some classes of offshore. However, generally what you will see is that boats with the drivers strapped in, will have emergency oxygen strapped beside the seats, like little dive bottle with a mouthpiece. You are correct by saying seatbelts wouldnt have saved them, hitting the water that fast upside down wouldve probably killed them instantly anyway
