I was going to say the same. I did hear an explosion go off so perhaps that's what they're afraid of. But it is Brazil, too.

To be fair, that radiant heat coming from that fire would be a big reason no one is rushing over to help, but I get your point Navy flashbacks aviation firefighting school AFFF (Aqueous Film Forming Foam) |

Yeah, but that aviation fuel burns HOT. He was probably as close as he could get where he was standing due to the heat.

It would be horribly difficult to watch a person suffer like that… I couldn’t imagine not being able to help them. |

Re: Two Killed After Single-Engine Police Airplane Crashed
No only would the heat be unbearable, the guy is also engulfed. Those of us that have actually had to pull bodies out of burning homes, you find out quickly skin doesn't really hold together under those conditions. Makes it really tough. Imagine trying to drag a person that is virtually dead weight, only their clothing and skin is sleeping off every where you can get a grip. Oh yeah, then add a couple hundred gallons of avgas burning around you. Unless you're wearing bunker gear, you're pretty much physically restricted to just observing, if you wish to hang around. |
