Two Ecuadorian Men Sitting on the Sidewalk Are Shot Dead
Two men were shot dead while talking in Machala, in the province of El Oro. E.S.V.Z. and K.A.C.S., both 26 years old, were sitting on a sidewalk when a red car approached, and armed individuals immediately got out of the vehicle to carry out the attack, according to witnesses. A citizen who did not want to be identified out of fear of reprisals mentioned that the victims tried to run to evade the attackers, but they were shot more than 15 times right away. In their escape, the assailants scattered several flyers over their bodies. "At the scene, we found several threatening pamphlets indicating that anyone who imitates the Machucas will end up like this," said the acting chief of the Machala District. E. had a drug possession arrest in 2020, while K. was arrested in 2019 for possession of a weapon, and robbery in 2022. |
