Yep! There's two kinds, big balls and little balls. And one black one, which implies a nasty infection.

The objective is to get your balls into the pockets before the other guy.

You're not allowed to handle them, except the white one under some circumstances.

People can't handle losing money or bets and will make sure that they prevail even if they have to go to this level
When I was a kid in junior high, I belonged to a bowling league. The alley decided to install a bunch of pool tables to generate more income. That backfired. Every night it was fights, cops called, people quit going their to bowl.. just too dangerous. Betting used to happen on bowling all the time, there was never an issue but pool drew in a totally different crowd.
