Re: Two Chops Beheading Like a Pro

It was the second chop that severed his arteries.

This dude's brain was still alive, no question about it. Fucking amazing. I'd like to hear a neurologist's thoughts on this. How long can a brain function with zero blood pressure?

What an amazing post! A+++++!

The only thing that would be better is to have Go-Pro cameras attached to a "selfie rig" and mounted on the victim's head, aiming right at his face. And then one second after he's beheaded, start yelling his name, making loud noises, clapping, etc to try and get his attention to see if he responds. Make some science out of the situation!

I hate this fucking planet.
Then you are welcome to leave it... preferably in an epic fashion... while recording it so that someone can put it on here and we can watch it!

Re: Two Chops Beheading Like a Pro

There's at least one documented case of a person opening their eyes in response to their name being said after dog's blood had been pumped through their severed head. Whether it was reflex or actual awareness, it does imply consciousness of some kind.
The important thing here is that blood is being artificially pumped through the head in order to supposedly bring back some brief response.

In most of the beheadings that show up on a site like this one, the amount of blood (or blood pressure, as someone else pointed out) that's lost by the time the head is off equates to lost consciousness anyway, so even if the brain could be artificially stimulated for a few seconds afterwards, that doesn't mean (in my opinion) that most of the people losing their heads are sitting there for 20-30 seconds, looking around and contemplating the whole thing.

Even with a severed jugular without decapitation I feel like unconsciousness is rapid, and that's clearly happening anyway each time a head is removed.

I can understand the possibility of consciousness being potentially sustained for a few seconds artificially, but that's just an artificial setting, while the people here (as someone else pointed out) are losing all blood pressure immediately in a way that would knock out a living body with an attached head.

Re: Two Chops Beheading Like a Pro

I've always been fascinated with how long one stays aware after decapitation. In doing some research on the matter, I read a story about a dude that was in a horrific car accident with a friend. The friend was decapitated. He reported that when he looked down at his friend's head, his eyes looked from him, to his own body and back, with sort of a look of realization of what had happened before he faded away. Who knows if that's a true story, but this eye movement seems to support awareness for at least 7-10 seconds.
I've read that account! Gives me chills every time I think about it.

Oh, totally agree. The loss of consciousness following the initial trauma is quick. But beyond that, what constitutes human consciousness and individual identity? Medical professionals the world over bring people back from death every day. Hell, the world's first head transplant is probably going to happen this year. The possibility of someone being able to die in such a manner and then *come back to tell about the experience* -- it's so fucking...ugh, I just don't have the words. I don't think they exist.

Re: Two Chops Beheading Like a Pro

That guy DID look aware of his surroundings. He had sort of a bewildered look of disbelief. I wonder how he got into this situation in the first place. I would be interested to know about the events which led up to this.
