Im going to play devil's advocate and say that the taxi did the right thing and the truck did not. It was the truck which turned the wrong way to avoid the accident, because he had a trailer which would *also need to be clear of the proposed straight path of the car.

I think he saw the other truck coming from his left side and the truck on his right was barreling towards him head on, so he tries turning into the ditch but doesn't make it.  |
