Second, he shouldn't have even been asking to search the car, he had no reason to search the car OR the person. We have something called the fourth amendment here.

Now as to the tragedy here, I am sorry for him and his family. I am also sorry that the other man had to go to prison and live with killing another person.

We have the right to bear arms, we have the right to avoid unreasonable search and seizure.

If cops were trained better about what their authority entails, less shit like this would happen...

Sorry, but 4th amendment shit is outweighed by the fact that officer Coates felt a need for search, as an officer, it was his call, one made countless times in this nation of ours...protocol dictated that he conduct a pat down of the living deadfatman long before trying to be good old boy with him, Coates failed in this regard...paid with his life...suspicious activity is defined by the officer that sees it, only experience can show you what Coates saw instinctually...war vets know it, you just know something doesn't click....unless you were there, and saw what Coates saw, you can't make any calls based on book knowledge...and any LEA will train you to put your own safety first before the public, because you ARE what makes the public safe, the "Thin blue line" as it were...the whole point of having publicly funded armed paramilitary force

I did not even come close to perfect

I still have many many dash cam videos that have not been posted. I will post all of them over time (the Fatal dash cam vids in this forum the non fatal ones on the police forum)

The ones that I lost (including the entire Coates vid were "lost" in the transfer. When I realized a couple years later I called him and he said he threw the computer away like 6 months after we gave it to him (what a dick )

This is the very very poormans version of the whole entire dashcam video. The entire full length video includes the pull over, Coates buttering up Blackburn by being very nice and even giving him a warning, Blackburn about to walk back to his car and Coates to his when the Tropper tells Blackburn he is a Drug Interdiction Officer and would he consent to a search of his car, Coates asking Blackburn if he has any weapons to which Blackburn says "Well you know" his right hand in his pocket (as it has been almost the entire stop, Coates asks to and starts to pat down Blackburn with Blackburn facing Coates, Then the clip you see, then two truckers arrive one has a CCW and brings his gun, the first Trooper backup arrives and goes apeshit when he sees his fellow Trooper (and good friend) dead, telling the truckers, a moaning weeping fat pile of shit laying in a ditch (Blackburn), and anybody else with in 25 miles that he will "Fucking kill every single person here if they dont do what he says when he says with no hesitation or warnings" because Coates could not radio any details as he was shot just after he had called dispatch, so the backup had no idea what was going on

For those who have never seen the video this should be a nice treat to get the general idea of the shooting scenario

For those who have seen the video and like me cant find it myself or dont know a LEO who owns the licensed VHS tape this will be a small taste until the victory of the full video

The most heartbreaking part of the vid is after Coates is hit the first time his vest stops the .22 shot from a tiny pile of shit Saturday Night Special (the gun that old ladies who live in bad neighborhoods carry in their purses) then Coates hits Blackburn center mass (Blackburn weighed 300+ lbs so his center mass was his huge gut) 5 times, yes 5 times with hollow point .357 slugs. Coates then takes semi cover by the side of Blackburns Mustang and while his arm is raised to key his shoulder radio to call distpatch Blackburn fires the luckiest shot in the history of guns that hits Coates in the armpit right where the vest straps on and has no protection and hits him in the aorta.

He stumbles back and falls and is trying to breath and like Kyle Dinkheller you here him dying and he knows he dying. It only takes about 15-20 seconds for Coates to die. But listing to it seems like it lasts forever.

After seeing that for the first time so many years ago at a training course I wanted to kill Richard Blackburn. Knowing he lives and Coates dies will make anybodys blood boil, well anybody besides the 13 year old kids who faked being 18 to sign up for the DR forum and think its so cool to kill cops and fuck the police and the world would be better with no cops and I wouldnt scream like that pussy cop after being shot for the 11th time with an M1 Carbine. Anytime you see that kind of post you know they are not an adult
