IMO .. probably should have tazed him instead of using deadly force, so I'm not gonna condone what happened but I'm not gonna condemn it either because if a big black man with a wild look in his eyes wearing nothing but a hospital gown coming at me with a pair of scissors I'd probably blow that mother fucker away too !

We had a guy like this where I lived and the chief, who never even wore a gun just took the cruiser and hit him just hard enough to knock the guy down, nobody even hurt much less killed.

Re: Toronto Police Shooting Of Mentally Ill Man Released

...But for a cop whose gun is already unholstered and aimed, I think it's likely one well placed shot would've stopped the threat."
All those guns against a single knife, they had opportunity to bring him down without killing him.

Still, personally, I'd rather a person like this be in the ground, anyway. No reason to enable these types of dangerous people just because they're "mentally ill."
That in itself is a problem. The only reason this person was a danger is because of the system. Why rather keep sticking "these types" in the ground? Why choose to kill over learning?

Mental illness is overrated and sorely misunderstood, especially by professionals in the psychology field. Science does not know enough about the brain to shove experimental pills down their throats that clearly do more harm to society than good for the patient. It is not their fault that the study of human behavior remains in the 19th Century with Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung.

I agree... if I remember the video correctly the man was a lot more agressive/quick and they handled it well.

You're delusional if you think the problem is the system. The problem is the person with the illness. We continue to try fixing genetic problems with medicine and talking, when the problem is within. The only thing medicine enables is their ability to procreate and continue shitting up our gene pool with more mental illness.

Re: Toronto Police Shooting Of Mentally Ill Man Released

One bullet in the shoulder would of done him good, they didn't have to kill a mentally ill person
By law the officer is not allowed to shoot to wound. If he's going to shoot it has to be to kill, otherwise it would be deemed that the use of the gun wasn't necessary. If they wanted to wound they have other weapons used for that.

The officers have wives, families etc... If you're coming at them (regardless of numbers) with a knife, expect to be killed. Simple as that.

I understand in this situation, the guy perhaps was not in the mental state to understand everything happening. Unfortunately, that's the fault of whoever was taking care of him.

Actually, we're overmedicating and not talking enough. There are things you'd be surprised that medical science has overlooked.

The study of human behavior is truly stuck in the 19th Century.

Maybe that's because human nature is stuck in 180,000 BCE.
