Brazil. Three suspects died and one was caught in the act following an operation by military police officers in the early hours today in the north zone of Rio de Janeiro. According to the Military Police, the group was occupying a vehicle intercepted, sparking an armed confrontation.

According to information from the 16th BPM, the criminals were leaving one community to reinforce members of another community, both controlled by the Comando Vermelho, where there is an ongoing territorial dispute with Terceiro Comando Puro traffickers, who have been making successive attempts to invade the area.

After the initial confrontation, the suspects tried to flee, triggering a chase. During the tactical siege, the vehicle they were in lost control and crashed into a pole.

Three occupants died during the operation. The fourth suspect, injured, was taken to the State Hospital and ended up being arrested.

In the incident, the officers seized two rifles, a 9 mm caliber pistol, a grenade, a ballistic vest, two communication radios, and the vehicle used by the group. The case was forwarded to the Civil Police, which will continue the investigations.

One of the dead in the operation of the 16th BPM is the drug trafficker Caio, identified as one of the leaders of the CV in that area. The two others were drug traffickers Lomão and Jota.
