Yes, I heard about the car jackings and kidnappings. It even said on the State Dept. website that some men are dressed and disguised as cops, but they really are not cops and their target is mainly Americans and other foreigners, while nothing is being done to protect tourists. The reason I said it was drug smuggling is because Colombia is noted for the production of cocaine and to get the drugs to the U.S. is through Venezuela and Central America. I travel frequently and booked a trip to Caracas without reading the travel warnings, so I went to France instead.
