Teenager Drowns in Balderton Lake After Being Ecouraged by Friends to Dive
U.K. P.M, 19, tragically lost his life following a drowning incident at Balderton Lake, off Heron Way, New Balderton, Nottinghamshire. Emergency services were called to the lake at approximately 2:35 pm on Thursday after reports that P.M had encountered difficulties while swimming. Despite the dedicated efforts of emergency personnel, including specialist divers and paramedics, and every attempt to save him after he had spent approximately 22 minutes in the water, he sadly passed away later at Queen's Medical Centre Hospital. The teenager had recently arrived in the United Kingdom from Zimbabwe and was the first and only son in a family of three children. He lived with his parents, who are both AFM Church pastors, and his two sisters in Hucknall, Nottingham His sudden passing has deeply affected his family, friends, church family, and the wider Zimbabwean and Nottingham communities. |

What the fuck ? Pushed to try and pretend he can swim by peer pressure, and drowned. The attitude of his friends is discutable at best. They may have had trouble realizing the severity of the situation, but still. Hearing them laugh as he drowns and discussing wether to call for help or not for so long is quite sad. |

the stereotype comes from black people not having access to pools for various reasons, with poverty and segregation being big ones (at least in the US). Without access, they have less experience, leading them to have a higher likelihood of drowning.

DI(v)EEEEEEE!!! DI(v)EEEEEEE!!!! So much wrong with this. Can't Swim < Peer pressure, age-old story. All that was missing is "Hey, hold my beer, wouldja?" A great Darwin Award service was performed for humanity, that day. The dog that went by at about 2:02 was like: "Hey, somebody's dying over there, let me go help!" Sheesh. |

The reason they don’t learn how to swim, or prefer not to go into bodies of water, is because it’s a waste of their time. There’s no crimes to commit, except the occasional boat jacking I guess. Gotta stay on land where all the potential victims are.
