They must be using more voltage there than in the US. That should be 120v to run computers; and would give you a good zap; but not kill you.

we use 240v here in the UK, so you're probably right.

Faulty powerstrip maybe? You can notice an arch shortly after the beginning at their feets maybe there were some powerstrips placed or something...
