What a twisted society China is today. For the most part, they don't behave even vaguely like human beings. They behave more like...worker ants, just trampling over the dead or dying bodies of their fellow worker ants fallen beneath them and going right back to being busy. In this case, busy playing video games. There is no hope for these...people

Absolutely spot on. However, what most people don't seem to realize is that even if there were no computers, screens, or games in this room, they would've still responded in the exact same way.

Spend any amount of time in China and you will notice one thing - it's not in their culture to help others simply because it doesn't help them. There is nothing for them to gain so they don't care.
It's an incredibly backwards and selfish society.

What were the others supposed to do? Even if they knew he was in trouble, should they risk getting electrocuted for someone they don't even know or care about? Why? Self preservation is the primary commandment of the god of evolution. They followed it. and they lived. Take a clue.
