Re: Teen Does a Failed Somersault, Breaks Neck and Died Later on
Extreme care was taken by the rescuers to protect and immobilize the cervical spine.

Re: Teen Does a Failed Somersault, Breaks Neck and Died Later on
Negligent homicide? No way. I call that overcoming adversity in order to get back to business! When your promotional stunt backfires and neither the salesperson nor the inventory are moving, you will literally need to take matters into your own hands if you're going to make any sales. After all, those blankets aren't going to sell themselves! Seriously though. Isn't it ironic that we live in an age where some kid breaking his neck attempting a front flip in a distant country can be caught on video and shared with the entire world, yet a significant portion of the world's population don't know the basics of first aid? (Additionally, there would be no video to share if he had only logged on to YouTube and typed "front flip" into the search box). As for negligent homicide? While the bystander's attempts to move him unquestionably sealed his fate, their act may not have changed the ultimate outcome since he probably didn't have immediate access to advanced medical care. The complete absence of any voluntary movement suggests an injury above C4. Because the function of the diaphragm seriously compromised, the person may be unable breathe on their own. Without immediate access to advanced trauma care, many of these injuries will eventually prove to be fatal. On the other hand, if he had immediate access to advanced EMS and a trauma center, he not only survives, he probably achieves some degree of additional neurological recovery. Proper C spine immobilization, administration of corticosteroids by EMS at the scene, and rapid surgical decompression, all significantly improve the chances of a more favorable functional outcome. In all likelihood, he would be tetraplegic, with limited use of his upper extremities, wheelchair dependent, and possibly on a ventilator. With the right care and a little luck, however, there would be a remote possibility of a full recovery. Under that scenario, the bystander's actions have much more severe consequences. I know nobody asked for this, but this is a subject that I know quite well from a professional and personal perspective. |

Re: Teen Does a Failed Somersault, Breaks Neck and Died Later on
If he would have looked up "front flip",he would have realized that his technique was missing an essential component--forward momentum. There is no way anyone will be able to complete a full rotation by just planting both feet and doing an Elon. This technique might work if it was performed from the top of a flight of stairs, but it's probably safer to do off a diving board. If he would have looked it up on YouTube, he would have understood that he needed to shift his weight forward onto one foot while simultaneously thrusting his butt upward. |

btw... don't move people with broken spine. You might make the spine worst by grinding the unsupported spine with now sharp bones edges and sever the spine even more. Make sure the guy doesn't move until a medic is taking care of him |

My analysis: He tried to do a flip in India, no where near a railroad train or a power pole. It didn't matter much, because he was still fucked. Then he died. |

Looks more like rugs to me... but obviously his magic carpet was on the fritz.
