Man, if his buddy had been all of one meter closer to the truck, he would have completely broken his fall and the pair of them would have had a few bruises at the worst. They'd have laughed about it over drinks this weekend.

Hitting your head from a standing point alone is a 6 chamber roulette if you go down limp. Pile driving yourself from 6 feet off the ground is a fully loaded revolver with one of the rounds having a chance to mangle your horribly instead of kill you.
