Re: Taiwan: Man Accidentally Shoots Himself In The Head While Playing With Pistol
Taoyuan, Nov. 2 (CNA) A Taoyuan man killed himself by accident on Tuesday after he fired a modified gun he thought had malfunctioned, Taoyuan police said Thursday. According to police, the incident happened when the 40-year-old man, surnamed Tsai (蔡), was showing the gun to his friend and two minors at home. Tsai claimed the gun had malfunctioned and to prove it he put the gun to his head, pulled the trigger and it misfired. He then pulled it again and it fired, with the bullet going straight through his head, according to police. Tsai's friend and the two minors were terrified and froze for a few seconds, before fleeing after seeing that Tsai was bleeding severely, police said. Tsai's wife, who had been upstairs, immediately called the police and an ambulance after discovering what had happened, however, Tsai was pronounced dead later in hospital, police added. After a preliminary investigation, police said the accident happened following an unintentional discharge, and that they were continuing to investigate how Tsai had obtained the gun. Tsai had been associated with gang activity, police said, adding that Tsai's friend is a wanted person and has now been arrested. |
