At around 4 p.m. yesterday, during school dismissal time, a major car accident occurred at the intersection of Guocheng Road and Guoguang Street in Sanxia District, New Taipei City.

A car hit several passers-by for unknown reasons, causing 16 people to be injured. It is currently known that four people lost their breathing and heartbeat at the scene, 3 suspected to be junior high school students, and were sent to Enzhugong Hospital, Tucheng Hospital and Banqiao Yadong Hospital respectively.

It is understood that the accident happened at 4 pm, when a nearby junior high school was dismissing its students.

There happened to be many students who had just finished classes, parents who were going to pick up their children, and passing motorcyclists at the intersection.

The silver sedan, driven by a 78 year old man, that caused the accident hit the crowd and then directly crashed into the median island, lying horizontally in the middle of the road. The car body was severely damaged and parts were scattered all over the ground.
