idk -- it looks survivable to me. He seems otherwise in good health. Such a massive wound, once "closed" and packed, could, with the help of gravity, drain infection directly out of his head via his "chin", perhaps. He might rest face-down to drain the wound properly, away from his system. A lot of dressing changes and a prolonged healing period for this unfortunate one. I hope he has a lot of loved ones or friends to help him live through it. Sad.
