The video of a man being shot multiple times by an Oklahoma City police officer is being seen by people across the world.

Miguel Chavez was seen acting erratically just minutes after he jumped onto an city bus on June 24. Less than three minutes later, the Hispanic man would be shot by police.

Concern over the video reached Mexican officials, who have stepped in to find out what happened.

Elizabeth Martinez, the man’s widow, spoke exclusively to KOCO’s Patty Santos, who conducted an interview with her at her attorney’s office.

She wants to set the record straight: her partner of 19 years was not a criminal and did not deserve to die this way, Martinez said.

“I want to know what happened. I have three small children who are asking when will their dad be back,” Martinez said in Spanish.

Chavez worked for Waste Management as a recycling collector for more than 12 years. He also owned several businesses and employed about 20 people.

Martinez said he did not abuse drugs or alcohol.

She said they were part of a family group working to improve their marriage and themselves.

He had left a day before, Bible in hand, on his way to church.

“The next day he called and said, 'I spent all night praying. I turned off my phone but I’m going home,'” Martinez said, but he never made it.

Martinez has hired an attorney to help her get answers and justice. She thinks police used excessive force.

Although she tried to hide what happened from her kids, they found out through the internet.

She’s afraid they’ll grow up traumatized and hating the police, which could cause more problems in the long run. Their faith is holding them in place so far.

“Now I have the great burden of carrying on. Three kids without their dad and they have questions that I just don’t have (answers for),” Martinez said. “I want justice and to know what happened.”

Her attorney said they will know what move to make once the district attorney releases his findings on the shooting.

Thank god the other cop showed up. when he tried to grab her gun a shot got fired. almost shot the bus driver. she acted unprofessionally imo.

Chavez asks to go to some location not on the route, and adds...
Chavez: "...non-stop..."
Bus driver: "...this is not a cab man it's a bus..."
Chavez: "...please..."
Bus driver: "...I can not do it, I can't drive the bus, I can't go off route..."
Bus driver: "...I'll lose my job."
Chavez: "Go ahead and do it."

I'm guessing the cops were already called to the scene of the vandalism/car jacking, and Chavez knew this and was trying to flee. 02:18 silent alarm was activated notifying dispatch of an emergency and bus location. 02:40 female officer walks up to the bus and commotion of passengers exiting. At 02:48 she should have shot, but hesitated and a second later, Chavez was all over her gun. The first shot just missed the bus driver going behind him. By the time other officer got on the bus and saw his partner was in the fight of her life, he had to use whatever force was necessary to incapacitate the perpetrator.
