Having seen most of those videos I've always wondered about this.

It seems like getting beheaded from behind could be much more comfortable, but it also seems like people have more trouble getting through the spine from the back.

There's so many videos like this one where people are sawing at the back of the head for a pretty long period of time and getting nowhere. Often they end up switching to the front and having less issue.

If the beheading is relatively swift, having it done from behind has to be far better than sitting there gargling blood for an extra 20 seconds like most of these beheadings go.
