A tragedy occurred in Augsburg on Saturday lunchtime directly at the town hall and the adjacent Christkindlesmarkt. A man climbed onto the town hall in front of the surrounding passers-by and then jumped to his death. Police and fire brigade could do nothing more for him.

Because the Christkindlesmarkt was already open, the town hall square was very busy. Police and firemen were called to the scene, but the man jumped almost immediately after completing his ascent.

The spokesperson assured that the jumping cushion was set up correctly and in the right place. However, the man deliberately chose to miss it. He died when he hit the ground.
