No...fuck you!...if the dumbass would have listened to the man pointing a gun at him( common sense)...or here is a thought...how about not putting yourself in that situation to begin with, he might still be alive...i doubt it though..you can't fix stupid..

Re: Suicide by Cop | Police Kill Knife Wielding Man
Do police in USA get trained in how to "back up"? As in, can they not just move away from the guy with a knife until more help comes or they can try another taser? What about pepper spray? A super soaker filled with bleach? Why so quick to use the gun in that situation?

Re: Suicide by Cop | Police Kill Knife Wielding Man
I thought police signed up with the possibility of being in danger in mind? And when they do that without going gun crazy we correctly appreciate them for it. It seems a bit like joining the navy then blowing up any boat you think is slightly suspicious just in case. Policing is risky. If you're not willing to take that risk appropriately then drop the badge and move aside and let someone who isn't trying to practice for zombie land take over.

why these motherfuckers can't shoot legs or arms first?? In Europe we shoot this way and there's less victims

That old guy didn't look like he could push his way out of a paperbag, let along push a knife through a bulet-proof vest! |

Re: Suicide by Cop | Police Kill Knife Wielding Man
A lot of law enforcement agencies (also in Europe) are trained to aim center mass (chest, abdomen). This is the largest target on the body and has good stopping power. People who say "why dont they shoot the legs or arms" have clearly watched too much TV and probably never shot a firearm themself. It is not that easy to aim for arms and legs. Also, law enforcement divides their use of force usually in "non lethal" like pepper spray, tasers, rubber bullets/bean bags or lethal force which would be a firearm. That means if a law enforcement officer pulls a gun, their mindset is already at killing the subject. The problem in my opinion is, that a lot of officers don't value the life that they are about to take. Why just don't back up ? Also in all of the police videos I have seen over the years never have I seen cop trying to start a normal human conversation. Shouting "drop the knive", "get on the ground" and especially "we dont want to do this" is not helpful to a suicidal person, because he wants to be killed. Start a conversation on a human level, talking about family, kids etc... That would show to me that he really don't wants to pull the trigger. A tactic that I have seen in a case like this is that one officer distract the subject from the front while another on creeps up from behind and tackle the subject. Another one would be pepper spray, that would probably lead to dropping knive because he is sratching out his eyes and the officers could tackle him. But that would need a lot of patience on the officers side... |

Re: Suicide by Cop | Police Kill Knife Wielding Man
They didn't "shoot to kill" they shot to stop. Shoot center mass, until the threat is stopped. He was within the 21' distance with a deadly weapon, ignored verbal command, and advanced towards the LEO. Good shoot, period. I'll simplify this further, play stupid games, win stupid prizes. |
