Sadly, pretending to get hurt and blaming the person who tried to help you is/was very common practice in china and people knowingly try not to help anyone because they are afraid to get scammed. In my country, we have a "good samaritan law" which protects people from lawsuits by such scammers. I think in china, such laws were added quite recently and people have a deep distrust of anyone who seems to be hurt. Check out this related video: |

Thanks for this video. That's really fucked up. Especially that "broken vase scam". I always assumed Chinese people were either pussies, kept to themselves, or just weren't friendly. I think the first 2 are still true, after watching that video. In USA, many people carry a gun, or some other type of weapon. Also many people here know how to at least defend themselves. You know, when you're younger, you're taught that. Depending on your parents/friends. Most people I know, know how to choke someone out, know how to throw fists in a way that won't break their hand. Many of us were in fights at younger ages, not just men, women too. The problem here is that too many people easily know how to pull a trigger too, and that's why other countries do their own thing, otherwise the world would be chaotic, like US can be some days. |
