Student Burns to Death After Hitting Fuel Stall
A tragic traffic accident that resulted in death occurred on the Bantaeng–Bulukumba Main Road, Bombong Hamlet, Biangkeke Village, Pa’jukukang District, Bantaeng Regency, Friday (17/4/2026) at around 07.30 WITA. A student, Muh. I. P. (23), a resident of Lele Caddi Hamlet, Kaloling Village, Gantarangkeke District, died tragically after the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a retail fuel stall, causing a massive fire. According to information gathered at the scene, the victim had been traveling from west to east after refueling at the Lambocca gas station and was returning home. As he approached the scene, the victim allegedly attempted to avoid a collision with a Viar motorcycle with license plate number DD 6037 FB coming from the opposite direction. The vehicle was reportedly overtaking a car in front of him and crossing the oncoming lane. In the sudden situation, the victim reflexively turned the handlebars to the left. However, his attempt to avoid the collision caused him to lose control. The motorcycle he was riding then struck a retail gasoline stall owned by a resident named Waris (60) located on the side of the road. The violent impact immediately ignited a fire. It is strongly suspected that the fuel stored at the location accelerated the spread of the fire, so that the motorbike and the victim's body were immediately engulfed in flames. |
