And yes to those who are confused, "rice wine" and "Sake" are synonymous, and it is in fact a higher alcohol content than traditional, "wine" as most cultures consider it. But it's certainly not a pure grain alcohol distillate like Everclear or other, "rectified spirits"...

I'm a doctor. You're wrong, cephalosporins are highly contraindicated with alcohol use. This is why we never, ever give it to drunks who stumble their asses through the ER wanting antibiotics for their infected teeth/wounds/etc.

It can cause a rare interaction with alcohol that mimics Disulfiram. Disulfiram is used to treat alcoholism, and basically makes your body intolerant to alcohol. Alcohol in small amounts can cause intense hangover/over drinking symptoms almost immediately, and even death. And she drank a lot. So she probably was incredibly unlucky to have that rare reaction called CIDLR.
