Strangled and Killed a Teenager
A teenage girl was sentenced to two years and 10 months in juvenile detention for the murder of Leyla Monserrat, while another suspect was released after serving 11 months of probation. The incident occurred in September 2025 in Sonoyta, located on the border between the United States and Mexico, where, according to investigators, the victim was lured to a house, strangled, and then buried.

Re: Strangled and Killed a Teenager
I understand that they tricked her, but why isn't she at least trying to fight? And why did they get so little time for actually killing someone and burying her??? |

Re: Strangled and Killed a Teenager
Yeah, her reaction is odd. Tying up her chest / arms and then removing the rope may have desensitized her to it so she'd be less apprehensive about having it around her neck. Taking off the blindfold and looking her in the eye while strangling her was some serial killer shit. She must've had a lot of trust in those girls and truly thought they were goofing around up until the end. Nice friends. |

Re: Strangled and Killed a Teenager
My take is that she was incredibly naive & possibly intellectually challenged. It seemed like she thought it was all just a game up until the end.

Re: Strangled and Killed a Teenager
Doesn't mean she's 'challenged'... She simply trusted these people. They obviously didn't have her best interest in mind. Fucking mexicans. All foreigners should be sent back to their homelands immediately, starting with the criminal set. The People are getting Pissed. |

Re: Strangled and Killed a Teenager
The video gives the impression that either all these girls knew each other, or the victim was brought here under the pretense that she was going to meet someone she hadn't seen in a while. I can make out: "Oh, you're pregnant?" "Just wait a little longer. It's gonna be a big surprise." "It"s someone you know. They've known you for two years." Then theres a lot of "just wait and see" and kinda pretending like they are rushing the "surprise guest" in. At the end, they ask her to guess the name of the guest and tell her that person's name starts with "M". I'm not clear whether they were trying to spell out "death" muerte, before they took the blindfold off as a final sick joke. Sticky material. Once you attain a certain level of maturity, it's just plain sad to see young people behaving like this. They killed that poor girl. They threw away their lives, and in the end it's all in vain. |

Re: Strangled and Killed a Teenager
She was lured under the pretense of getting a surprise. Britany, 15, got 2 years and 10 months and 13 year old Bryanna got 11 months of supervised freedom and is currently free. The court ordered a combined payment of approximately 5,600 pesos (roughly $330 USD) to the family. Leyla’s mother, Carmen Becerra, has publicly rejected this, noting it does not even cover the 30,000 pesos spent on funeral expenses. The case went viral again in early April 2026 after fragments of the video circulated on social media, fueling a national debate in Mexico about juvenile justice laws for serious crimes. The victim's family is currently pursuing an appeal to seek the maximum sentence allowed for minors, which is five years. The video was sent to her family showing the girl's faces so that wasn't very bright. According to statements and the investigation, the motive was jealousy and bullying, partly directed at Leyla's skin color. Lured from her home on September 25, 2025 and her body found on Oct 1 in the backyard of one of the girls. Great find as i saw only the cut off versions. |
