In places like that a simple robbery may very well result in death of the victim or a family member. It’s not as easy for some people to recover from a robbery to replace money or medicine, or other vital items. A family on the verge of starvation may not be able to recover in time to stay alive. That’s why those societies take a hard line on robbers and thieves. Just imagine knowing your children may starve to death or have their lives destroyed by a single robbery.
