He's likely got several minutes with no intervention or fluids 40min+. He's responsive, Using words and making eye contact; he's good. first thing that happens to a severed artery is transient vasoconstriction, then coagulation cascade with a permanent insoluble fibrin clot at the end. If you just cut your femoral artery down the side that bitch ain't ever gonna stop bleeding. Blood comes out of arteries like that in a very powerfully pressurized manner that never gives your platelets's gp1b receptor a chance to clot. He will eventually bleed out if no pressure is applied to aid the clot... Luckily his legs were removed with pressure so he's got a few minutes-hours depending on how hydrated he is before the permanent fibrin clot can form... if that clot forms he'll live forever as long as it doesn't get infected. |
