Re: Speeding Motorcyclist Is Run Over by Truck at Intersection
the biker was on a main, paved street. the truck rolled out of what is basically a dirt alley, blind. common sense would say, signs or no signs, it was the trucker's responsibility to stop before proceeding. |

Re: Speeding Motorcyclist Is Run Over by Truck at Intersection
Wasn't a dirt road but also a paved street with white faded striping but yes he could have approached that intersection more carefully but the biker who is more vulnerable in traffic, and wearing his helmet on top of his hair instead of over his head it looks like had a death wish by approaching an intersection at that speed as traffic coming from the right has the right of way.

Re: Speeding Motorcyclist Is Run Over by Truck at Intersection
Yes, exactly this. Panic-breaked and locked up the rear wheel. 60% of your stopping power comes from the front brake. I can't say if he could have stopped in time had he braked better but he certainly may have remained upright. That would've helped. |

Re: Speeding Motorcyclist Is Run Over by Truck at Intersection
This is correct. Agreed, because under different circumstances the truck would have had to give way, and the inertia of a heavy truck would not have made that easy. I had to look this up (pardon my ignorance but I come from one of those drive-on-the-left countries) but this is correct. Looks like the biker hit the trifecta of stupidity and eliminated himself from the gene pool. Darwin would approve. :) PS: This is just a long-winded way of saying "what she said...". :) |
