South African Water Tanker Driver Runs Over Man, Then Flees the Scene
eThekwini, Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa A man, Celani Z. (aged 39 or 43, depending on source) has died after he was run over by a municipal water tanker, prompting a culpable homicide investigation by police and an internal probe by the eThekwini Municipality. According to police, Celani was rushed to hospital after the incident but later succumbed to his injuries. According to local residents, they had been struggling with water supplies for a couple days, with no deliveries. When the tanker arrived, the driver apparently only supplied one house before trying to leave. It is thought Celani was attempting to flag down the tanker driver, or force the driver to stay in the area and supply other houses, when he got run over. |

The tanker driver may have thought (correctly) that he was fleeing for his life. Those folks weren't happy before he ran over the guy, and were a lot more unhappy afterward.

true. the house he filled up was probably the only one who paid the bill. everyone else hoping for hand outs, planning to do what they usually do when resources come into down, take it for themselves. not today. |
