Re: Son Beheads Father in the Name of Jesus

Greed and religion go together more often than not. You are from Philippines yeah? So I assume you are a Catholic? What do you think of Muslims generally speaking?
There are good ones as well as terrible ones like every other classifications of human race and beliefs.

Those robbers and and other criminals have a lot of greed without any religion involved. im not sure about its reality but movies often portray the Casa Nostra or Mafia as remorseless killers and criminals yet have (as they portray) dedication to the church.

Although i can only imagine that if such are done by supposedly religious fanatics, how much would the non religious criminals do? its probably just a case of lesser and greater evil thing. in every human being, there is always an evil and a good side inside. up to the individual which one to culture and nurture.

Re: Son Beheads Father in the Name of Jesus

Matthew 10: 34-39: (Jesus is speaking):
"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn 'a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law - a man's enemies will be the members of his own household.' Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me. anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it."
The orthodox Christian interpretation of this passage is that Jesus is speaking figuratively about the sword, and that his point is that loyalty to him must take precedence over any other loyalties, including loyalty to family members. That the passage can be taken in a more literal mode is also evident. There is an interesting parallel here with analogous passages from the Koran which can be taken as either advocating war and slaughter or in a "spiritual warfare" sense.

"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds"

"Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God"

"And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his ear.
Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword"

Re: Son Beheads Father in the Name of Jesus

Oswald should be SCREAMING to us all about how this 'christian' religion is so evil for promoting the beheading that was carried out here.

Afterall..... Oswald is a Christian right? He claims that muslims don't speak out against ISIS and that makes them just as bad right? SO then I guess OSWALD should be condemning this Christian for doing the beheading right? But Oswald ISN'T condemning this Christian....but rather DEFENDING him. SO if we all use OSwald's trusty logic....that would mean that Oswald is just as EVIL as the Chrisitian in this video.

see?
Oswald can't be convinced of his hypocrisy. But I know we can use his comments as an example to make the point to other viewers.

Oswald's ideology is simply a double-standard that Christians don't have to abide by, but all minorities and non-Christians are held to.
Anyone can call himself a Christian and go out and commit an atrocity. Doesn't make him a Christian. The commands in the Bible are pretty clear. The Ten Commandments ("do not murder"), love your neighbor as yourself, forgive your enemies, etc. Quite different from, say, Islam ("slay your enemies wherever you find them"). It's a later "command" by Allah, so Muhammed's "law of abrogation" means that it takes precedence over the earlier peaceful ones.

Interpreting the Bible is quite a challenge, isn't it?
One can render passages to suit one's particular ideas. Yes, the general tenor of Jesus's teachings is one of non violence, but this hasn't stopped many of his "followers" (if you take them at their word) from resorting to killing those with whom they disagree. While religion is often used as an excuse for warfare motivated by greed and desire for conquest, on many occasions (e.g. the Inquisition, the wars between Catholic nations and Protestant nations in medieval Europe, the seemingly endless Sunni vs. Shiite conflicts) the perceived need for religious purity is a major driving force.
