This isn't some parachute unit training, this is basic rope repel training, I did it when I served... though we never jumped into death like this hahaha.
The people standing at the bottom are holding onto his ropes in order to slow his descent as he repels down the wall to the blue mats.
He felt like superman and jumped without announcing his intention to those on the ground in charge of his descent ropes.
And thus paid the price for being a showpony.
