No, this is cultural.

I agree that you can’t hold bystanders accountable, but ffs the only thing these slants are missing are lawn chairs & popcorn.

No one is running... unless it’s to the scene to gawk harder. The victim might be hoping, but certainly isn’t *expecting* civilian intervention.

Brutal way to be ended. The only solace is knowing she’d conduct herself in the same (dis)respect had she been an onlooker.

I’ve seen dozen of muggings/murders out of China in broad daylight, and seeing someone help is an anomaly. I’d go as far to bet the man who helped isn’t even a National.

If the guy can be restrained by one man, which clearly happened, that's when they could have jumped in and helped. That guy put his life on the line while nobody else bothered.
