Six people, including a motorcyclist, were killed after being run over by a petrol tanker on Tuesday in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, while several others sustained injuries of varying severity. About five tricycles were reportedly crushed by the truck, which was believed to be carrying 45,000 liters of petrol. The accident occurred at the Fruit Market along the Oje-Beere highway in the Ibadan Southeast local government area of the state, according to the Mapo Police Department, which visited the scene. As the truck was traveling down the busy Mapo-Beere-Oje road, witnesses said the accident was caused by brake failure of the tanker.
