I presume RR Xing signals are triggered by local proximity sensors independent of what vehicle is on the tracks. Maybe not in Mexico! I look for trains whenever I get the chance, as I've seen too many failed control systems to trust the RR Xing signals with my life. |

My late father was a longtime engineer & took me on trains all the time. Every one I was on had a big metal toolbox sitting on the deadman's switch so you wouldn't have to keep your foot on it. Of course, this was the 60s/70s so things were a lot more lax back then (like him being able to bring me on the trains & drive them). Then again, this was Mexico so it could be that anything goes.
