Also,a 7.62mm round isn't going to impact as much tissue as a round that's 3/25 of an inch in diameter.

Again,back to physics.The speed of a shotgun round is much slower than a rifle round.Therefor a rifle round has more of a piercing effect.As a shotgun round has a punching effect much like a .45...

Back to physics again.You will notice that the shot doesn't pierce through the mans neck.This tells me that the shot used wasn't heavy enough to provide for deep penetration.That's how I came to the conclusion that he is using a #6 shot or smaller.

Just watch the vid I provided and observe that mans skull being blown vertically upwards.

And as far as gauging the size of shotguns by their sound...
I can tell you if it's a 12,16 or 20ga from a mile away.Literally,

What a load of horse shit. It is the energy transfered that counts. A rifle round may be lighter but will travel faster than buckshot.

That's not to say I know which ammunition will have the greatest energy on contact with a target but mass is only half the equation.

That said a rifle round or assault rifle round would go straight through our unfortunate friend here.
