Guilty as fuck. Holmes showed up armed to initiate the confrontation, Bell defended himself with a show of force, and then Holmes neglected his obligation to retreat when able after Bell put the gun down. The second Holmes turned back around and fired those first 2 shots at Bell, he cemented his guilt.

Bell might've been under an obligation to attempt retreat as well, but he only went back for his gun after Holmes shot at him and he's the dead guy, so he ultimately gets to be the victim in all of this.
